Temp sensor acting up

I'm trying to see if my temp sensor's toast. The fan comes on when I unplug it, but it won't run during normal ops. I might not be getting it hot enough. Anyone know what temp the fan should cut on? Don't wanna fry my motor

That's a classic sign pointing to a faulty temp sensor.
The system likely defaults to turning the fan on as a safety measure against overheating when you unplug it.
Try googling your vehicle's make and model for the exact temperature for when the fan should kick in because it's not a fixed number for everyone.

Hey, usually fans kick on around 195-220°F, but it depends on your vehicle. If it won't run during normal ops, your temp sensor might be faulty or wiring could be off

Yea I'll look up the specific temp for my model, it is good to know unplugging triggers the fan as a safety
