I just bought a used 2021 Sportsman 570. It has high hours for the miles and was used on a farm prior to me owning it so Im assuming it sat at idle a lot (115 hours 225 miles). It feels sluggish off the line. Motor sounds good, looks brand new still, revs up fast and will get up to top speed fine but when I floor it on grass it won't spin the tires. Is this normal for the 570's or do you think I need a belt or something else?? I also own a 2002 Sportsman 500HO and it feels much more powerful off the line and will definitely spin the tires. (Any help would be appreciated)

The 2002 500HO has a different clutching setup and a carb motor that just hits differently off the line so it would be hard to compare. The 570s are known for a very smooth, progressive power delivery, not a neck-snapping launch. The fact that it gets to top speed fine and the motor revs quick tells me the engine is healthy. But wit those hours and miles, it's definitely time to look at the belt and the clutch. A worn or glazed belt will absolutely cause that sluggish feeling, and if it idled a lot, the clutch faces could be a bit glazed too. I think a new OEM belt would be a good investment anyway, just for your peace of mind. But yeah, I don't think it's realistic to expect it to feel like that your 500HO.

Thanks for the info. I did replace the belt and that seemed to help. The 500 still feels quicker off the line but that makes since with your explanation. I like the 500 HO feel better. Are there any aftermarket clutch kits that are worth while that gives some punch off the line ?

Sure, happy to help! I think you can't go wrong with a QSC or an EPI clutch kit. Both are proven and give you a noticeable improvement for getting that power to the wheels a lot faster!
